Maidstone bounced back from a defeat last week with high intensity. Maidstone created many chances putting Norwich under a lot of pressure and were unlucky to not convert to a goal early on. Norwich also had a few attacks in the D, however Maidstone stayed strong and calm and defended well.
Maidstone continued pressuring Norwich and won a short corner near the end of the first half but failed to convert.
In the Second half, Maidstone came out strongly and continued to apply the pressure. A few opportunities were missed which could have given Maidstone the lead. Norwich found some space and had an opportunity on goal when the Maidstone goalkeeper, Georgia Wishart kicked the ball into a Norwich player, resulting in a penalty stroke. Wishart atoned for her mistake by calmly saving the stroke.
Within seconds of the restart, Maidstone launched an attack from the defensive line which saw a ball being played down the line into Emily Bush who found new forward Claire Weddle with space in the D. Weddle cooly slotted past the goalkeeper to give Maidstone the lead.
Maidstone held possession well with 10 minutes to go to see out the match, but had to defend two penalty corners on the final whistle. The defensive line held strong and Maidstone finished the game as 1-0 winners.
