Maidstone Hockey club chairman, Matt Evans has congratulated players who took part in the Leeds Castle Triathlon.
Donna Shalders, Jenny Duggan, Michael Shalders, Louise Cassey, Hannah Durston, Jenny Vincent, Lizzie McClintock, Jaime Cronk, Mark Gibbons, Duncan McClintock, Catherine Green and Katie Gibbons all competed to raise money for The Lymphoma Association.
Mr Evans said: ‘Well done to MHC members for completing the Leeds Castle Triathlon and raising in excess of £1400 for The Lymphoma Association. An amazing achievement.’
Lizzie McClintock said: ‘Duncan and I are mad!!! A lovely 750m swim in the moat followed by 26km cycle and 5km run! We are doing the triathlon with a team from Maidstone Hockey Club to raise money for Lymphoma Association, an association that has really helped a close friend of ours.
‘The association provides information and support to anyone affected by lymphatic cancer - the most common cancer in the under 30s and the 5th most common cancer diagnosed overall in the UK.’
Louise Cassey, said: ‘It was my first ‘proper’ triathlon. I did it as part of a mad team from the hockey club (all complete novices) as a joint fundraising effort to support this very worthwhile cause. A member of the club and good friend has been affected by Lymphoma this year so we are doing all we can to raise as much as possible.’
