MHC Receives National Award
At a prestigious awards dinner in Chiswick on Friday 28th June, London EHB announced the winners of all this year’s national competitions - recognising the best club, team (ladies and men), coaches, umpires and volunteers. In giving our Club the award, MHC was praised for running ‘the Big Dribble’ and ‘Hockey House’ at Armstrong Road and for using these activities to promote the sport to the wider community in the town.
Roger Daniels, who received the fine glass trophy, said:
“This trophy is not only richly deserved it is very important to the Club strategically in sustaining the recognition by and support from England Hockey Board that opens up funding and other opportunities for us. Direct one to one conversations at the awards dinner with both the EHB President and Chief Executive, who know of and appreciate our Club, serve us well. To EHB this award is one they value very highly as it marks out for them who in the “hockey nation” is punching above their weight.
Many people contributed to achieving this award that embraced so many activities before, during and after the Olympics and our ongoing programme of recruitment and profile raising activity. The huge effort that went into the ‘Big Dribble’ and then the ‘Hockey?House’ stand out. Thank you to ?those who organised these and ?other events and all of those who ?supported them.”
